Cardiology

The ACS team are an experienced team of cardiac specialist nurses who provide inpatient review of patients with suspected Acute Coronary Syndrome, ensuring that patients are assessed, managed and transferred to the appropriate area for ongoing care and management. Where appropriate, they liaise with Royal Papworth Hospital to facilitate transfers for ongoing investigations and treatment.

The ACS team also undertake outpatient treatment for the initial investigations and treatment of patients with likely ischaemic heart disease, organising tests as needed to aid ongoing care.

Referrals can be made via ICE (inpatient only), Ext 8688 or Bleep 1744.

The Heart Failure Nurse Specialist team consists of experienced Heart Failure Nurse Specialists who work alongside the consultants. We seek to ensure that patients with a diagnosis of Heart Failure receive holistic, evidence-based care to improve quality of life, reduce mortality and hospital admissions and improve access to palliative and end of life care when necessary.

The Heart Failure team aims to see inpatients with a confirmed diagnosis of Heart Failure. We also run outpatient clinics to review patients progress and ensure that they are on the correct medication.

Referrals can be made by via ICE or the team can be contacted on Bleep 1335.

The Cardiology Research Team leads and supports commercial and non-commercial research studies across a range of cardiology subspecialities and lipid management, helping to bring new treatments and diagnostic techniques to our cardiology patients. The Arrhythmia Team diagnoses and manages abnormal heart rhythms, working closely with the Cardiac Investigations and Angiography Suite's pacemaker and device services.
